Information about the position

The Data Developer / Modeler will join a highly collaborative team of architects and developers creating logical and physical data deliverables to produce applications for the IBM Consulting business. The data deliverables focus on logical modeling, and then the physical design and configuration of physical structures with a heavy emphasis on SQL development for data retrieval. The Data Developer / Modeler will work closely with the Application Developers to educate on data structures, and tailor the SQL for optimal data retrieval. This position will be an assurance point for good data management practices across the team and solution.

Responsibilities

• Execute the application development lifecycle through development and test (requirements analysis, data analysis, solution definition, data modeling, meta-data definition, and query
• development, performance analysis, and testing)
• Designs and drives the evolution of the data models and flows across operations, reporting and analytics
• Coordinates with source applications for Master and Reference data
• Drives optimization and performance improvement of databases and queries
• Participates in regular solution design sessions to analyze options and benefits
• Ensures proper solution documentation is produced using standard Architecture deliverables

Requirements for the employee

• Experience creating advanced SQL (multiple joins, sub-selects, case, decode, and other
• constructs)
• Experience performing logical data modeling and physical data modeling.
• Experience in data analysis and data mapping
• Experience performing problem analysis and data investigation
• Familiarity with IBM DB2, Cloudant, Mongo and other DBMS
• Experience with Postman, SOAP UI or similar API drivers
• Experience in creating, reading and manipulating JSON structures
• Problem solving, interpersonal, and time management skills to handle high-pressure, complex
• situations effectively
• Demonstrated communication skills, and the ability to work directly with clients/customers
• Highly motivated by team success
